Today we ask the eternal question: What would happen if the Cincinnati Reds played the Detroit Tigers?

(A) No runs would be scored forever and the game would never end.

(B) All the runs would be scored forever and the game would never end.

(C) Human sacrifice, cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria!

(D) The encounter would create a time paradox, the result of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum and destroy the entire universe.

(E) Really bad baseball

Unfortunately, we are not going to find out, unless commissioner Rob Manfred rules that, for the good of baseball and humanity, the Reds and Tigers must play each other even though the game is not on the schedule — something that he absolutely should do.

The Reds and Tigers are each doing things so amazing, so remarkable, it boggles the mind that both are happening at the same time. It’s like night and day being one.
