Let’s begin with this crazy note from Scott Pianowski.

This one is wild when you first think about it… but it gets much, much wilder when you actually break it down. Scott talks about any winner from the last 14 years… but the truth is that you don’t have to stop at 14 years ago—there are only two active Cy Young winners in all of baseball right now: Snell* and Burnes.

*Snell made his first start for the Giants on Monday, and he did so in grand Snell style: 72 pitches in three innings, five strikeouts, two walks, three singles, and he was on the mound for three stolen bases, including a steal of home (last year, base-stealers were 25 of 26 with Snell on the mound). He might be the most unhittable starting pitcher in the game, but, whew, it’s a whole thing when he takes the mound.
